The Education Sector provides a diverse range of programs to:
- build civil society
- increase the economic independence of women
- empower females
- improve the livelihood of conflict and drought effected households
- assist in rural recovery
- increase access to basic education
Education programs include the Afghanistan Primary Education Program (APEP) with fifty thousand overage students in five provinces; rural rehabilitation programs building the capacity of Shuras (Community Development Organizations) in 1,237 villages in target communities in 7 Provinces; the National Solidarity Program (NSP) establishing and strengthening Shuras in four districts of Balkh province; and the Women’s Galaxy Training Center. These programs impact on many young people, families and communities through improving the knowledge, skills and socio-economic status of the target population.
